Plumas Unified School District's schools enrolled 1,749 students in the 2022-23 school year, 0.3% less than the previous year, according to the California Department of Education.

Of all the students welcomed in the 2022-23 school year, 50.9% of them were boys, and 48.8% were girls.

Data also showed that most of the students were white, making up 63.4% of the Plumas Unified School District's total enrollment.

Plumas Unified School District covers 10 schools within Plumas County with its main office in Quincy.

Among the 10 schools in Plumas Unified School District, C. Roy Carmichael Elementary School recorded the highest enrollment of 346 students in the 2022-23 school year.

In the last decade, enrollment in California elementary and secondary schools rose by at least 5%, while high school enrollment dropped 5%.

However, overall enrollment in California public schools is sliding, and the Public Policy Institute of California expects it to drop another 8% by the 2031-32 school year.
